01: I’m very good at making things more complicated than they need to be.
Recently, I did exactly that with a bespoke tea blend.
I was super excited about the original idea, then I kept adding to it, trying to improve it, trying to make it more unique.
Eventually, the project stalled. It had become too complicated to make it work, and I was frustrated because I really wanted the original idea to happen.
Then I had a conversation last week that changed the way I looked at it: Make the hard things easy.
I went back to the blend with a simpler lens and suddenly saw another way forward.
A version that made more sense and still something I’m confident people will love to drink.
Maybe the simpler version is the one that actually gets made.
Now I’m looking at lots of other things wondering what else I’m making harder than it needs to be.
