Tea Routine: Create a sacred tea space
Create a sacred tea space...
“At first you might find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred space and use it, eventually something will happen. Your sacred space is where you find yourself again and again.”
- Joseph Campbell
It’s vitally important to have space to breathe. Your physical environment can play a huge part in that, as can the state of your mind. Physical, digital and mental clutter can all have an impact on how you feel… by designating and designing a special space where you can allow yourself to fully relax into your tea routines you’ll get more out of them. This helps to cultivate the Metal Element qualities of respect and ritual and acts as a daily reminder to support you in your tea routines.
Follow these 7 simple steps to create your own sacred tea space:
1. Dedicate a space as 'sacred'
Simply dedicate a space as ‘sacred’: choose a room, area or even just a chair in your home as ‘sacred’. Use this space regularly to sit with your tea leaves and practice your chosen tea routines. According to feng shui, it’s a good idea to locate your space in the NW corner of your home or on the Metal wall of the room (that’s the wall to the right as you enter the door). These are merely suggestions, go with your gut instincts.
2. Clean the space thoroughly
Clean the space mindfully and with intention. If you’re into crystals, now would be a good time to bring them out.
3. Play music
Play loud happy music. Sound can help to shift old energy and bring new more energised vibrations into the space.
4. Light a candle
Burn candles, incense or oil infusers to bring light and fragrance.

Where can you make some space…
The article from Wildfire Walks got me thinking how I could create more space in my life this week. I’m trying to get out of bed earlier to do my more journaling tea routine before the house wakes. I find if I’m gentle with myself and take it slowly I can ease myself into the day and discover magic in the early hours. Like this pic of the sunrise this morning.
