Tea Routine: Take a Judgement Break
Ever catch yourself judging someone mid-sip of tea?
It sneaks in fast. A glance. A thought. A quiet dismissal.
But here’s something I’ve noticed after hundreds of cups:
Judgment thrives in the rush.
It fades when I slow down.
So now, when judgment creeps in, I don’t react, I brew tea.
Not on autopilot. With intention.
I listen to the kettle. Feel the warmth of the cup. Let the quiet in.
And then I ask:
Is this really true?
Why does this matter so much?
Who might I become if I chose kindness instead?
By the last sip, something usually softens.
I see the bigger picture. Compassion returns.
And sometimes, I realise the person I was judging just needed what I did:
A little grace.
Next time it rises, pause. Make tea. Ask better questions.
Choose the gentler story. It won’t just shift your mood. It might shift you.
Do you have a ritual that resets your perspective?
I'd love to hear.

Why Judging People Makes Us Unhappy
In this Tiny Buddha article, Toni Bernhard finds that judging others often stems from dissatisfaction with how things are and a desire for them to be different, which only creates suffering for ourselves. By shifting from judgment to simple discernment, we open the door to acceptance, ease, and a deeper sense of peace in our relationships and within ourselves.
