The Trust Cup
Trust feels like doing nothing, until you realise it’s everything.
You’ve done the work. You’ve shown up.
Yet here you are, in the waiting room of life, wondering if the doors will open.
The temptation is to force it.
To meddle, push, control.
Because stillness feels like doing nothing, and doing nothing feels risky.
This afternoon, I made tea.
Not the rushed kind you forget about.
The slow kind.
I watched the steam curl, breathed deeper, and remembered that life has its own timing.
Every sip reminded me:
I’ve stumbled, risen, learned.
Each rise and fall has lifted me higher.
Trust is not passive.
It’s not crossing your fingers and hoping.
It’s showing up each day, taking the next step, and letting the bigger picture unfold without interference.
It’s knowing you’re planting seeds you can’t see yet, and being okay with that.
Today, take your tea and your next step.
Do the work, then trust the process, yourself, and the timing.
What one small action will future-you be glad you took?
p.s. I’m drinking Pumpkin Chai and Herbal Chai this week.

The Wisdom of Insecurity
In this classic book, Alan Watts reframes insecurity as a doorway: “The desire for security and the feeling of insecurity are the same thing.” Real trust means letting go of control, surrendering to uncertainty, and discovering freedom in presence. This book transforms waiting from frustration into possibility.
I’ve also linked an animated breakdown of Watts’ reflections on why grasping for certainty causes suffering, and how trusting presence frees us.

The Anatomy of Trust
In this powerful essay and talk, Brené Brown unpacks trust into small, daily behaviours: Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, Non-judgment, Generosity (“BRAVING”).
Trust is built in micro-actions that compound over time, just like a tea ritual or daily practice.
