Tea Routine: get outside
Stuck indoors all day, feeling tired and disconnected? It’s easy to lose touch with nature, especially when we’re caught up in the hustle of everyday life.
For this week’s Tea Routine, I challenge you to take your tea outside. Prepare your tea in a flask and head out for a slow walk in nature, even if it’s just a short stroll around the block. I find this a game changer. There’s something about stepping out into the fresh air, hearing the birds, and feeling the breeze that resets my mind and body. Sipping warm tea while moving slowly through nature feels like a mini retreat in the middle of my day.
Studies show that spending time in nature can reduce stress, boost your mood, and even improve creativity. When you combine that with a mindful tea break, you create a calming, grounding experience that reconnects you with the present moment. It’s also a gentle form of exercise, which can increase energy levels and help clear your mind, making you more focused for the rest of the day.
I often find myself at the beach for hours (keeping an eye on my surfing mad daughter) so I take the opportunity to turn it into a tea routine, slow down and reconnect with myself and nature. This pic was a few days ago in East Lothian… I climbed a wee hill overlooking the waves without another soul around apart from a couple of sheep!
So I invite you to take your tea outside this week and walk slowly, soaking in your surroundings. How does it feel to bring nature into your routine? Share your experience and see how it transforms your day!

Wellbeing
Henry Allen researched diary entries to show how Scottish freshwater environments can provide positive mental health outcomes over time. Getting out in the fresh air and the meditative flow of the water helped participants escape from their everyday stresses and worries.
